iHeartFaces - Best Face in February

iHeartFaces is doing a new challenge called "Best Face in February"
where we can enter what we think is the best
face we've taken for the month of February this year.
Nothing else came up in my mind
other than my son's big smile:

It's one of my favorite pictures of him!
This was one of those days when I grabbed my camera
and he saw it, then he randomly gave me this big smile. I thought it was funny.
Now he always gives me a big smile
whenever I "try" to take pictures of him secretly.

It's really fun!

IHeartFaces Challenge - Vroom, Vroom

This week's iheartfaces challenge is about VEHICLES!
I have been looking forward to this ever since I've read
all the upcoming challenges at iheartfaces this month.
I was sooo ready for it.
I have always looked for chances to take a nice photo for this challenge.
But then...
I was a little bummed that I didn't have my camera ready
when this day came:

(cellphone shot: first haircut at a children's haircut store)

I took a photo of my son napping earlier that afternoon
in his onesie that has trucks, cars, and airplanes printed on it.
It was supposed to be my entry for this challenge.
But only an hour after I took that shot,
I found ourselves in this place and I didn't have my camera with me.
I had planned to take it with me!
And yet I forgot it.
Why? Oh why?
But there was nothing I could do about it.
So, I just took this picture through my husband's cellphone.
So, sorry for the bad quality.

IHeartFaces Challenge - My Summer in Review

This week at iheartfaces' is about,
as it says in the title itself,
photos that tells us about how our summer went.

Well, my summer was full of new
experiences and new homes.
First off, we celebrated my son's first birthday twice.
The first one was on his very birthday.
We took him to the Riverwalk Park in Bakersfield in the morning.
And then we drove to Valencia (CA) to meet
my grandparents and my uncle and aunt.
It was their first time to meet our son.
We had a simple birthday celebration for him.

Then his second birthday was celebrated on his father's side
of the family in Sta. Maria (CA).
I liked it a lot because he got to spend his birthday
with his cousins, too.
We all went to the Lompoc pool in the afternoon
before the party.

And here are some more fun summer activities we had:

We went to the
And then...

We hiked the Moro Rock before we drove back home
to Bakersfield.

That's our previous car being towed
an hour before we went to Disneyland.
It broke the night before as we drove from Bakersfield to L.A.

Our son's first carousel ride (Disneyland), one of the last
rides we tried before we went home.

I totally love the picture of these cousins.
They seemed so stoked about their hats!

This beauty came home at lunchtime with my husband
on my birthday.

And part of my daily summertime routine:
playing with my son and letting him have fun -
even if it means it felt like Tazmanian Devil passed by our house.

And watching him spend time with his dad.
This was taken when we were packing up to leave Bakersfield.
We were on our way to move to Las Vegas.
Our son was helping his dad take the table apart.

All my summertime has basically just been having fun
being a mother to this wonderful happy little toddler boy:

and his dad...

Check out how some other people spent
their summer.

IHeartFaces Fix-it-Friday #69

It's Fix-it-Friday over at iheartfaces.
For those of you who don't know, Fix-it-Fridays are, obviously,
every FRIDAY of the week where the owners of the website uploads
a photo taken either by themselves or by their official contributors.
Followers then can download the image and edit
the photo however they want as long as they don't  claim copyrights
on their edited versions because the photo taken isn't theirs.
They they'll post their edited versions on their blog back to the
iheartfaces website.

Today's picture is owned by Rachel Durik.

Original:

I have always been reluctant to try this out because
I am not really good at editing photos.
But then, that's why I'm trying to give this a shot.
I will also be looking at other people's edited versions of this photo
to learn from them and get some good ideas on how I can
edit my own photos better someday.

But for now, please bear with me.
Here are my edited versions:

IHeartFaces Challenge - Photojournalism

iheartfaces' challenge this week is about photojournalism.
I've never done it before,
(or maybe I have without knowing it)
so I tried it and here's mine:

I just used Picnik because I don't have a Photoshop to
make a collage.
My husband and I took our son
to the Red Ridge Park to play at the playground.
He played there for a little bit.
Then my husband decided to look for some geocache around the area,
which led us to the baseball fields in the park.
Our son touched first base for the first time... Hehe!
And then they ran to second base.
On their way to third base, he saw a plane flying by.
Our son kept pointing at the planes that were flying by.
Of course, we happily obliged to look at them, too (thus, the picture at the top left).
He loves watching them!
It was a very nice day at the park.

Head on over to iheartfaces.com to see more photos
by other people... and don't forget to have fun while you're at it.. :P

IHeartFaces Challenge - Beach Fun

This week's (week 34) challenge at
www.iheartfaces.com
is about beach fun.
My mother-in-law showed me this website a while ago
and I think it would be fun to just try out
some of their weekly challenges.

And I think this photo
is perfect for their challenge this week:

This was when my mother-in-law flew in earlier this year
to Hawai'i to visit us and see her grandson again.
Our son was 6 months old
and he was having a blast of fun in the water
with his dad.
He loved splashing the water on the boogie board with his hands.
He laughed a lot whenever he splashed some water on his face by accident.
It was a really fun day!
I can't wait to take him to the beach again, someday!
